Nadia is a New Zealand trained and registered Counselling Psychologist, who holds a Masters of Health Science in Psychology. She has previously worked at the Regional Eating Disorders Service, as well as in the private tertiary setting at AUT University in Auckland, New Zealand.
Nadia is a registered Counselling Psychologist with the New Zealand Psychologists Board.
Nadia is able to assist patients with personal, social and vocational functioning by using psychological assessments and interventions, as well as preventative approaches. Nadia’s approach to working with patients is holistic and client centred. She uses a variety of models, however primarily works using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) for both adolescents and adults.
Nadia has trained in Eating Disorder specific treatment modalities, such as Family Based Treatment (FBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-E), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), the Maudsley Anorexia Treatment for Adults (MANTRA) and Specialist Supportive Clinical Management (SSCM), which are the international first line treatment approaches for anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorders. FBT is the recommended first line treatment for children and adolescents with anorexia nervosa. Nadia can also support adults suffering from anorexia nervosa using MANTRA and SSCM. CBT-E and DBT are the first line treatments for patients with bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder.
Nadia has an empathetic and non-judgmental approach to working with her patients. She works collaboratively to identify each patient’s desired goals and direction for successful treatment and change. Nadia practices in a respectful and flexible manner in order to pursuit empowerment and wellbeing for both patients and their families alike.
